Reliable, fresh food with friendly efficient service! Great staff, they deserve the business. Neighborhood is fine, changing & convenient-been around here for decades. Visit them!

All I can say is DELICIOUS If I could try everything, I would. It's a work in progress. But I love the food. It's fresh and cooked perfectly. This spot needs to be opened more but I understand. If you can catch them on their days and hours open DO IT. TRY THEM!! You will NOT be disappointed. I was so anxious to eat I forgot to take a picture I'm sorry.

This was a nice surprise close to our Airbnb. Honestly, from the outside, it's nothing special, but the line to get in? That caught our eye! It's clearly where the locals hang, especially the folks in uniform. So, we decided to check it out, even though some folks waiting for takeout were grumbling about the wait. Inside, we dug the menu and decided to grab a seat. Surprisingly, our sandwiches were on our table in, like, 10 minutes tops! And let me tell you, that pressed Cuban sandwich? Chef's kiss It's my go-to, and man, it didn't let me down this time! Overall, Maximilian's Cafe was a sweet surprise. Good food, ambiance extremely casual, nothing fancy, quick service - definitely a spot to hit up, whether you're a local or just passing through!

Outstanding! You would drive right by this little cafe if you didn't know it was there. You order first - either to go or self seat in an adjoining room. Very casual - the specials are tacked to the wall. I had the crab and corn chowder soup with their "special" chicken salad sandwich that was made with apples and grapes on some type of whole grain bread. It was delectable. The staff took note of our names and treated us like returning regulars - which I plan to be. Find this hidden gem then keep it on regular rotation!

A hidden little gem right behind the West Coast Black Theatre, this place is can't miss for sandwich lovers. This is my 2nd time and this go-around I got the Uptown Turkey sandwich with a side of Macaroni Salad. The Macaroni Salad was like nothing I have ever had before! Whatever sauce they use in it was nice. Although not a big avocado fan, which I overlooked when I was ordering helped make the sandwich. The avocado was subtle enough that it didn't overpower the sandwich, it actually complemented it. I also liked how they do a shorter "diced" bacon slice versus longer bacon slices. Delicious! I had a BLT and egg salad sandwich, comes w a side. I chose the pasta salad. All of the food came carefully packaged. Generous portions and extremely nice and happy employees. Reasonable prices too! It's my new go to for homemade delicious food.

Finally found an authentic, delicious Cuban sandwich in the Sarasota area! As other yelpers have mentioned, the location/building for this cafe is a bit sketchy, but don't let that keep you from going in. Just know their posted hours are somewhat limited: 10:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. On our first visit here, we observed what appeared to be a large catering order being prepared by several employees in their kitchen and being carried out to a car for delivery. We also observed several folks showing up at the order window to pick up their to-go orders. There was one person having lunch onsite in their dining area located in the back. We ordered two sandwiches, the pressed Cuban & the egg salad with lettuce and tomato, as well as a salad (don't recall the name, but refer to the pic). For sides, we opted for the homemade tri-color rotini salad and homemade macaroni salad. All was wrapped/taped well for carryout which I always appreciate! The sandwiches were soooo good, we returned the very next day for another pressed Cuban. We also tried the crab bisque which was a soup of the day and quite delish! If we lived in the Sarasota area, we'd definitely join the community of 'regulars' who frequent this cafe for weekday lunch!

Continues to be one of my south county dining spots for fresh breakfast or lunch at an extremely reasonable price. The service is consistent and the owner presences and welcoming nature always adds a touch of feeling like you are part of the family. The omelettes options are great, so if you don't see it on this huge menu, ask, the chef is very nice and will add that avocado to the omelet. The coffee is hot and servers are sure to pass by an refill your cup. I have been here for both meal options, inside and outside dining is excellent and parking is ample. Supporting a local couple who know what they are doing, makes coming to Max's Cafe an easy decision.
